It's been a while since I shipped something new, and honestly, it felt good to jump back into building mode.
Ever since I first heard about Bluesky (bsky) and the AT Protocol (ATProto), I knew I wanted to build something around it. After spending more time on Bluesky, one feature stood out to me as clearly missing: a proper advanced search like the one Twitter used to have.
That gap was the perfect chance to dive in and finally build my first ATProto project. I present bskysrch.com, a small tool for exploring Bluesky with more precision. It builds a query using Bluesky's native search operators and takes you straight to the results.
I tried to capture Bluesky's vibe, from the UI down to the admittedly fun mash‑up domain. Even the way the app teaches you search operators as you type riffs on how Bluesky lets you tweak your handle inline.
Credit where credit is due, the logo is very, very inspired by Tweet 2 Image.
As for the Chrome extension, it basically just adds a quick-access link in the sidebar to the tool. At first, it felt almost too small to justify its own extension. Still, small shortcuts have their value.
There's no real "endgame" with bskysrch.com
, but it's already picked up some solid traction on Bluesky and earned a few dozen installs of the Chrome extension. I'll take it!
